norelem is expanding its range with high-performance electromagnets and permanent electromagnets for the secure clamping of ferromagnetic workpieces. The products are designed for applications requiring high holding forces, precise controllability and operational reliability – from automation to safety technology.

Electromagnets and permanent electromagnets serve the same purpose, but differ in their energy requirements and holding behaviour. Electromagnets generate their magnetic field via continuous direct current, allowing the holding force and switching state to be quickly controlled via the current. They hold very firmly, but release immediately as soon as the power supply is cut off. Permanent electromagnets hold without a continuous current and require energy to neutralise or increase the magnetic field. They remain securely attached even during a power failure and are therefore particularly suitable for continuous holding applications.
