Non-contact safety switches from norelem

The products enable operational safety improvements on machines and plants.

The safety switches from norelem facilitate safe access to machine tools and production lines. They are robust, operate extremely reliably and can be integrated into machine components in accordance with international safety guidelines.

Safety switches are designed for protective enclosures such as doors, hatches and hoods. The device consists of two parts, the read head and the actuator. The read head is mounted on the stationary part of the safety device and connected to the control unit via a lead. The actuator is located on the moving part of the safety device. A machine can only be started up when the safety circuit - i.e. the safety door - is closed. Opening the door automatically leads to a safe system shutdown.

norelem offers magnetic coded and RFID coded versions of the safety switches. Both versions operate without contact, so that mechanical wear is avoided. The advantage for the user: less maintenance and a longer service life.

The magnetically coded safety switches use a coded magnet system with high switching distance and high tolerance to possible misalignment or vibration of the safety door. Activation can only occur with a matching actuator. This means that a high level of protection against manipulation is guaranteed. The electronics are located in a fully encapsulated housing. Depending on the version, the switched status is indicated via an LED. These safety switches are fully dust and water proof (rated IP 67) and comply with ISO 13849-1, IEC 60947-5-3 and BG-GS-ET-14 standards.

The RFID-coded safety switches also operate non-contact via RFID. Users can connect up to 31 sensors in series - making these products suitable for installations where several safety doors are to be monitored. Two actuation methods are available: Universal coding, in which any suitable actuator is recognised by the safety switch. The alternative is individual coding: Here, the actuators must be assigned to the safety switch by a teach-in process during commissioning in order to be recognised. The RFID-coded safety switches are also fully dust and water proof (rated IP 67) and comply with ISO 13849-1, IEC 60947-5-3, EN62061 and IEC 61508 standards.
